It was a cold and windy Sunday afternoon, the sun was shining brightly. I needed to get away, reassemble my thoughts, get ready for a busy workweek ahead... What better place to get away than an island! No, not a tropical island, although that would have been awesome... I'm talking about Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake. A state park of about 42 square miles (109 square km), with free-roaming bison - and less than an hour's drive from Salt Lake City.
Antelope Island is the largest island in the Great Salt Lake. For those who love a good hike, head up Frary Peak, Antelope Island tallest mountain. That particular Sunday, I wasn't really in the mood for strenuous hiking, so I went to Buffalo Point, my favorite spot on the island. It's only a short walk, but the view from Buffalo Point is amazing. Facing West, away from the mountains of the Wasatch Front and civilization... Facing magnificent sunsets... Facing peace and quiet... Taking deep breaths....
Storms brewing in the distance...
